I don't have that many miles on yet, but since I do mount from the high-side, I'll be keeping an eye on this. Thanks for the heads up, guys!
Not the problem here. Mount from the low side.

Well, that settles that!
Looks like bigdumbnoitall00's theory is in the lead.

I was reading in another forum as well and they are saying that their seats are splitting. I wonder if this can be proven as chronic so that Harley will do something about this?

Geez.... that would tick me off too. Shoddy manufacturing and material. Nothing more nothing less. If you're happy with the seat comfort I'm with the camp that says send it out somewhere and have it recovered with better quality material.

Thumbs up

Yep, mine did the same thing. i sealed it up with some epoxy , put it right on the seam. then used a marker to color it. It stopped it from splitting any further. I also went to a upholstery auto shop. They tole me 175 to redo it correctly with new vinyl. I held off on it. This past june while in Laconia, I went into the mustang seat vendor and bling bling out with a 2-tone brown and black touting seat/backrest for 700. (200 for the backrest) so if i subtract the 175 to redo the old seat its not to bad. And it is a real comfy seat, better than stock for sure. i just keep the old seat in the basement. U can see the little white spot on my old seat in the background. Not as bad as your is now but still bothered me.

My 2008 is also doing the same thing except mine is coming apart on the left side. It is the side which I keep my wallet also. I figured I was just having some bad luck with the seat but I guess I can add it to the list of problems(fairing brackets, HK radio and now a seat). Geez whats next?

I assume that's the super touring vintage, I didn't see the two tone on their website. That's sharp and looks great on our copper tops. I want one.

This starts to look like living proof that there shouldn't be a seam in that location no matter the quality of the material or the stitching. Time for a redesign with function taking precedence over style.
