my buddy had his 08 seat split just like yours, and he got the dealer to replace it under warrenty. and this is at a dealer that doesn't have the best rep in the world. give it a shot if you've got the ext warrenty.

I have the ext warranty and they don't want to cover it. They say "it is cosmetic " I fought with them on the first seat that I had them replace. After a lengthy battle the finally made me pay $150.00 and they cover the rest.
I would just do as others have suggested if your extended warranty will not cover it, find a local upholestry shop and upgrade materials or have stronger stitching put in and keep the original vynal.
I bought my 105th used from a dealer. I had a brand new seat on my bike because the original one was ripped in the same way. Mine hasnt done that, but it only spent 1000 or so miles on there before I swapped it out.
A any estimates on what having a sundowner seat in leather would cost. Any negatives to the leather other than cost? Assume it would need to be cared for properly if gotten wet but as it is a RKC outher leather on the bike.
Not that it should make any difference, but it sounds as though the seam on the as-parked high side is giving out consistently on the problem units. Could mounting the bike from the high-side and sliding down into the saddle be putting more stress on that seam?
I don't have that many miles on yet, but since I do mount from the high-side, I'll be keeping an eye on this. Thanks for the heads up, guys!
cheap thin chinese made viynal is the problem not how u mount the bike, try and get ir replaced, if yeas then put it on the shelf for resale then get a comfortable aftermarket to ride.if u must keep the look get it recovered.
