Out with the old and in with the not quite so old
Went to the local dealer Saturday to spend the $20 gift card HDFS sent me and after wandering around for a while and being exposed to some terrible music from the Cinco de Mayo party they were having, the wife and I were looking at the "pre-loved" bikes and came across a 2010 Ultra Limited in Vivid Black/Black Ice. 25500 miles and stone stock except for some slip-ons. Wife is really excited about the color and general condition and I am liking the idea of the 103. It was priced at $21k which I thought was a bit high but we took a ride anyway.
I had my '05 FLHTCI for about a year and a half and absolutely loved it. It rode great, only had 3600 miles on it when I bought it in Sept '11 and I have put another 12k on since. The Limited we rode blew me away. Smoother, more power, just felt more refined over all. My only dislikes are the bars, stock crap, and the location of the rear suspension air valve.
So we went inside and started talking and they first came back with $7500 for my bike and 21k for theirs. I said there was no way I was going to take that offer. We haggled for a bit and finally came down to $10k for mine and 18,900 for the 2010. I signed the papers and it is now snugly in my garage.
I had LA Choppers 13" Prime Apes on the old bike and they are on order for the new one along with the wiring, cables and new heated grips.
So without further adeu....

Thanks guys. I really am loving the bike. I do miss the smooth shifting of the 5 speed in the '05 as the 6 speed is very notchy and clunky. I am going to try the Mobil One I was using in the '05 and see if it smooths things out any. Other than that and the handlebars I don't know of anything I NEED to change. I moved my LRS flat top to the new bike so the windshield is good.
