This is my first bike. About six months before I signed the papers I was looking at Sporties. The payments were higher than I wanted to pay, but if I would have gotten the Sporty I would have spent alot more getting it the way I wanted.
Arghhh! You guys are killin' me! All I can think about lately is a Road Glide and an open road. Arghh! What misery! What longing! What am I thinking??!!
Is it true the RG's don't get the "buffeting" from under the fairing. I only rode one a short distance.
I guess I'll find out soon. I am renting one (have it reserved) in a few weeks. I just have to know.
Something else to lose sleep over!
The RG's frame mounted fairing does provide better handling in windy conditions than the batwing fairing. But, I've owned two RGs and with the stock windshield (and wearing a fullface helmet), the helmet buffeting was pretty bad - to the point of double vision. I'm 5'6" and that might have something to do with it but in any event, don't rule out the possibility of having to swap windshields. Otherwise, the RG is the best bagger Harley makes. Enjoy!!!!!
At a bar in Alaska there were offered some very premium imported beers and the lowly Budweiser (itself a cheap immitation of a quite good Czech beer). Many times the bar keeps are asked why the Buds are even higher priced than the better beers.
I know this is an ancient thread, but I will have to ring in here with my opinion of the Road Glide. *It is the worst bike ever made.....Do not rent one....you will buy one.* I have now performed my secret oath.
