12 volt outlet install

If you have mid frame heat deflectors (under your thigh when you are sitting on it, plastic mounted to your frame over the transmission by your side covers to block heat) you could drill a hole, mount a cigarette lighter plug, wire it directly to the battery with an inline fuse, ziptie all the wiring so its neat, 12v accessory source. Keep in mind it will always have 12v power. You can pick up a plug to cover the opening to keep the elements out when not in use. I'm sure others will chime in with their ideas, prolly better than mine. Hope this helps you out. Stay safe.

I had the same, only different question. I want a power supply in my tour pack of my EGC. My plan is to get a power port with the battery tender compatable leads and route it where it needs to be and then just get power at the leads from my battery when needed. My needs are different from yours, but it might be an option. Easy to disconnect that GPS when you don't need it.

Had the same problem. I found a handlbar mounted waterproof outlet on ebay. Ran the wires into my headlight bucket + tied them into the 2 wires goin down the left brake line to my front fender lite. I did this by soldering them together + shrink wrapping afterwards inside the bucket. If you're good at soldering etc, this is a very easy way to get keyed power to a GPS. I would NEVER attempt to operate any heated accesories on that outlet, sure it isn't fused for that.
