Just wondering if anyone runs any of the VP fuel's and if so what benefits have you noticed?

There is no benefit to running race gas without the compression that needs it.
There may be some benefit to running low octane race fuel, because there is no ethanol in it, but it would be very inconvenient.

 

I used to use VP and Klotz in my dirtbike with a 12.5 : 1 compression ratio. If you use it and no real benefit to using it in your bike, make sure it doesn't have lead in it and I'd probably dilute it with high test if I did. Smells great though.

 

I run 100LL from time to time. Lead lubricates and engine runs cooler.

 

Be careful with any fuel additive containing manganese if you have cat converters. The manganese reacts with the catalyst and will ruin the converter. Something I just recently read elsewhere. It was about using 104 Octane Boost.

 

VP racing gas is around 104 octane and has lead in it. if you are running a pro stock motorcycle, then you need it. otherwise, mostly a waste of money.

 

VP makes a lot more then just 104 octane fuels, they have a very big variety of ratings ranging from around 93 on up to probably around 125 or so. They have a specialty fuel for just about any and everything. I use to run it in my Hayabusa back in the day every once in awhile but I had to have a separate map for it as I picked up 20 or so horse (dyno proven) from it but I was also paying almost 20.00 a gallon for it as well.

 

I have thought about using the oxagenated fuel for dyno runs and possably carrying one of those 1 gal saddlebag cans with some hi octane unleaded for those times when I get a tank of bad fuel in the middle of nowhere.

 

The only reason for paying a premium for VP is if they have a 93 Octane with no Ethanol in it. There's definitely no reason to run any higher octane unless you are running a high-compression motor. Lately there are a couple of Sunoco stations that sell no Ethanol gas locally here in Florida. It's about a $.35/gallon premium in price. Saves the hassel of picking up and dropping off fuel drums and the clap trap to pump it.

 

Running VP RT105 in my drag bike, no alcohal, seams to help stablisies time on the strip and gas is the same every time out.

Consistansy is the name of the game.
