I like the sound of the Airhawk but I've got a problem with the price. Whats the HD unit going for and what's the verdict on form, fit and function? The pouch on the side that holds the hose and pump looks like it would get in my way?

Yes, Less Air is Best. Better than a gel....I have both. Found a great price at realbikergear.com

I have the original Airhawk medium cruiser. I cannot compare to other models. It works great and the trick is to have only enough air in it to barely lift you. Mine adds only a fraction of an inch over sitting on the seat. I have an Alaskan Sheepskin over it and that adds more height. But I have used this combo on different bikes and it has always worked great for me. My max ride was 14 hours in the saddle, but more normally less than 350 miles per day when on a 10 day cruise.

I'd like a custom seat, say a Rich's, but the airhawk works so well why tempt fate.

Original Air Hawk. Used it from Maine to Sturgis and back. Great purchase.

Had one and returned it. Too much air and you float over the seat leaving you feeling disconnected from the bike. Not enough air and it does nothing. Get the air right in the morning, it expands from the heat of the day and has you floating again.

If all you're doing is deadheading down the highway, I suppose it might be OK. I couldn't stand the thing.

Original Airhawk here. Love it. Totally takes away the butt burn I get on the stock seat. I've had it for many years.

Bought a Airhawk R at the local bikeshow last feb. for 40 bucks. Been in my tour pack ever since and haven't tried it yet. I'm positive it'll get sat on, on the way to sturgis.

I have an original also. It doubles the amount of time I can spend in the saddle.

Worth every cent.

Like everyone says, the less air, the better it works.
