OK, I bought the Cycle Electric rectifying regulator. (That is what you will need.) See: http://www.cycleelectricinc.com/RECTIFIER.html
That will have a listing for your machine. Google Cycle Electric, they have several web sites, some describe their products, some describe trouble shooting, some describe step by step replacement procedure.
They could sure use a real web guy to get things organized. I have had their unit on my machine for about 2 years (20,000 miles) and it has been completely trouble free. It should sell for around $200, that is bad enough, but better than $250. There are lots of VR outlets out there for both Harley and after market units. Despite all of the above, I hope it is just a dirty connection and you don't need any parts. Good luck.
