I've been through a few different rear tires. Recently went back to the stock dunlop. Its not the best for grip but i get much better life out of it than any other tire i've tried. Have heard great reviews on the Michelin Commander 2. Gonna try that one next time. So many options out there. Throw some rubber on it, ride it and see how you feel about it. If you dont like the feel of it, put something new back there.

I've had real good luck with the American Elite. Good grip and wear is good also.

american elite is for newer bikes with wider rim .
for your bike the dunlop e-3 is a great tire just a tiny bit taller and wider but it will fit your bike . long tred life handles great much better than the stock 402.
I got mine shiped to my door from Jake Wilson . They were cheaper than the 402 also . i paid about $110 for the front and about $134 for the rear tire. free shipping.

E-3 Jake wilson 90* metal valve stem and Dyna Beads is how I went. 1 day to my door. Great tire especially on grated bridges with the OL on the back. Indy mounted it for $30. Tell them you are using Dyna Beads so they don't use too much lubricant when mounting.

Watch some you tube how to videos on how to install tires yourself. Shop around online to get the best price on tires. Can be up to 50% less than the dealer. Then buy some tire irons (3, one big one and 2 small ones), a bead breaker, and rim protectors (recommend Motion Pro for all three items). Finally balance the tire by slipping some dyna beads through the valve stem. You'll save hundreds of dollars and it's not that hard to do.

I run Avon Venoms . I only get 6k from the rear tire but the trade off is excellent dry and wet grip .
