LOL Agree! One of my goals in life is not to be on Tosh.O, or some viral video on YouTube. Believe me, I've done some stupid stuff that would make it, but there was never a camera around...thank god!

This reminds me when I went to Daytona in 86. I was 22 and had to load the bike to leave for back home. I had help to get it in from home to there but didn't even think about reloading it for the ride home. It was just my wife and I with a hotel full of HD guys. I had a Honda Nighthawk S at the time. all I had was two 12' x 8" planks side by side and pulled together from underneath, then tethered buy rubber straps to the bumper of my Ford Ranger. None of them would help but they all stood there watching. I started at the end of the parking lot and the plan was to ride it up the planks into the bed. It was only 16" wide so there was going to be no stopping or place to put my feet down. long story short, I made it by pure luck. Looking back now, I can't believe I even tried it, lol.

If you're gonna ride your bike up a ramp try not to end up like one of those guys on YouTube!

I put my Road King in the back of my buddy's F250 for the trip to Daytona. We found a hill to park near so the ramp wasn't steep. Rode it in nearer the right side and then turned left to put the front wheel in the corner. If my mufflers weren't so long, it might have fit as is. But I had to slide the back wheel over far enough so we could close the tail gate, which also required removing the right saddlebag just in case. The only thing hard was the 5th wheel mount was in the way of the side stand.

If this is your first time loading a bike on a truck bed. Might I suggest removing the saddle bags before hand? Just in case you rock one wya or the other the bags will not get scratched.

Somebody didn't read the whole question. I can't leave the tail gate down because I'm pulling a camping trailer and it will not clear the power jack on the front unless both truck and trailer are dead straight. I plan on getting a nice wide 10' ramp like a scorpion or a big boy so I can put both feet down on the sides, I'm not gonna try rollin it up a 2X6. If I get the bike up and turn the front wheel toward a corner, I could use a ratchet strap to slide the back wheel to the side. The first time or two I try it I'm going to make sure I have a friend or two nearby. The videos for those ramps make it look like it's pretty easy. Taking the bags off sounds like a good idea though thanks for that tip. I see a lot of bikes loaded into short beds but none in 8" beds with tail gate closed. Still don't know if it'll work.
