I would guess that eventually Sirius will merge the two systems
and use what works for them taking whatever XM had that worked for them. This "should" equal a better product.
So no more crappy XM format!

I agree you can look for a rate increase. All the money promised Stern must have almost bankrupted them!!

Later.........

Lack of competition is never good. I was looking into XM and had heard some good things about it from a member here as well as a few friends that have receivers in their cars. I wanted to avoid Sirius because I can't stand Howard Stern. Oh well, guess the free radio will have to do for now.

How do We know that XM will not gain control? They are the one of the two that was making money.Either way,You're right, there will be rate increases.

I admit it.Sirius will have control.

Mel Karmazin, the CEO of Sirius, would become chief executive of the new company while Gary Parsons, the chairman of XM, would remain in that role. XM's CEO Hugh Panero will remain to oversee closing the of the deal, they said.

I was looking at switching from XM to Sirius because Sirius has NASCAR and the NFL (what do you think they paid for that?) This announcement came just in time to save me some money.
