Chopped tour-pak vs. king tour-pak comfort?
I'm getting a new street glide next week and gonna add a quick detach tour-pak of some flavor for the wife for dinner trips and such. Does the chopped tour-pak offer decent back support for passengers? I was on the fence between a Limited and a street glide but most of my riding is solo so I'm going to give the SG a try. Yes I'm aware of the search function but I want todays current informational stream direct from touring riders...

I just asked my wife what was comfortable the chopped TP or the standard back rest, and she said the chopped TP.
From a look and contour perspective the chopped TP is the best looking/functional one of the three models. I leave mine on all the time. It never comes off.
I can't stand that ugly wrap-around arm rest on the king tp.
It is uggggggggly.

My ol has ridden with both, and she prefers the king pack backrest. We ride long distances, and while she liked the chopped better than a sissy bar, the king is her preference. I don't really care what it looks like, as long as we are both comfortable. We did a 5 day trip with the chopped pack, and it was packed full. Same trip with the king pack and had extra room. Let your passenger try Em both. Most guys have no problem letting a pretty lady test out the back seat of their bike!

If you are using it as a detachable pack why not get the larger one? That was my thought process. The King Pack is big and bulky but it serves a purpose too. I can fit both of our leather jackets, two full face helmets and our gloves in the King Pack with room to spare. I use it on long rides or when I need to go to the store. Another plus is the Old Lady loves the comfort of it.....most importantly, it keeps her from knocking her damn helmet against mine......happy choosing

Not all king tour packs have the wrap-around armrest.
Mine is detatchable and has the same backrest that a chopped would use.
I actually like this size because it does hold a helmet, and is a lot more practical when you're packing for a trip. I have some of the fitted luggage for the saddlebags & pack, and it makes it very easy.
But I have to admit that the chopped ones tend to balance the look more. If there were no other considerations, I think I'd go for a chopped TP.

I have the exact same bike as you with the detachable king tour pack. It does look a lot better than I thought it would. Add that to the comfort level that my wife feels with it and I doubt that I'll ever be taking it off.
