Default Question about Radio firmware upgrade

UPDATE:Thanks goes out to Keith for posting the 8.9 update,I burned it onto a CD went out and loaded it into the Street Glide and it appears to have solved the problem,Stereo is working as it was before the 8.11 upgrade,I am a strong believer in ShovelheadBob and his wisdom and ofcourse factory training, but I did not have the 8.9 upgrade.I skipped right from the factory settings (Jan of 2006 build date) to the 8.11 update so I believe as Bob had mentioned, you need all the updates in succession to have the full spectrum of updates, give it a try guys, worked for me.

Keith, thanks again,I'm in Copperopolis (Lake Tulloch) not oo far from Sac.Give me a shout sometime, great riding up here and the Frog Jump is just around the corner.

John

I loaded the latest firmware from the Harley site and all went well except that now if I have a CD in the radio every other time I turn the ignition on, the radio comes on automaticaly,if I don't have a cd in the radio will not come on by itself when the ignition is turned on.Anybody exp. something similar? maybe I need to go back to 8.9 version, anybody have it handy?

Thanks for any and all help

I can't remember where I read it but if your cd is an MP3 this is normal operation.

Mine does that too. If you can figure out how to go back to 8.9 please let me know. I tried the reset and it didn't work.

Default RE: Question about Radio firmware upgrade

Ok I got a question, or two or three.
I knew HD had been having troubles with the new HK radios and there was a software up date to recalibrate for certain problems, and if that fails the dealers have been putting in reconditioned units.
But this is the first I have heard that you could down load it your self and do the upgrade.
So what all do you need to to do the upgrade.
Do you need patch cables to plug into the radio or does the radio read it off the cd.
Also is there a website to go to to read up on the issues.
Dealer is putting a reconditioned unit in mine under warranty, but this may be needed for future reference.
thanks
