It's HK, not HD that generates these updates....

As far as the library, I dunno....

I am just a Tech....

Everyone else has the answers.....

Shovelhead,

I meant no offense. I have upgraded several over multiple versions with out a problem. Requiring incremental upgrades on embedded devices is considered a big no no for those of us that design embedded electronics.

If the MOCO does depend on that, it's another in a long line of "what were they thinking".

And if they do depend on that, then why does the update website not state it along with providing all of the previous versions?
While I agree that normal industry standards on flashing electronics dictate that your "flash" should be all inclusive (barring a major version change) no one has said that HK and Harley are following industry standards. If the currently posted flash requires you do all the sequential incremental flashes in order to work it is totally irresponsible not to state that on the page where the flash is available. Unless the flash is written such that it will not run without checking for a previous version.

What is interesting is that these are published on the HD website to begin with. Given normal marketing you would think they would want to require a trip to the dealer to incur at least a nominal fee to flash the radio.

Also, there is little if any information on what the new flash should correct or benefits to the end user. It would be good to know what it supposed to do so that I can decide if I really need that fix or functionality.

Given the small size of these files all past revisions should be listed along with a changelog. A back out proceedure in case your flash goes all pear shaped would be good also.

That being said, I have not had any problems with the HK currently in my Ultra. The original unit was replaced shortly after purchase because the LCD display had lines across the lower half that would not clear.

To make a working flash disk just print out and follow the directions from the HD website. Don't do it the way you think it should be done. Do it the way it is written. And if you can't figure it out. Go to the dealer.

For the Mac users out there. I downloaded the H-K software upgrade from the H-D site. However, the radio doesn't seem to able to read the cd that i created. Does anyone know what the trick is for this item when using a Mac - OSX v10.4.10?

Thank you,

Thanks Mike,

I gave it another try, but it didn't work. All I get is a message on the radio face, "verifing DSP images". It just sits there. I'll head over to my dealer and hope they can install it.
