Default help a newbie out with a seat ?

Hi everyone. After 58yrs. on this earth I finilly got my Harley! It's a 2012 SG,black of course LOL. I bought a Reach seat foe it and the strap on the stock seat is riveted on the right side and is really to short. I pulled it down and got it on but it's tight. Is there something else I need to get to make this fit right?
Thanks,
Rlc1z

Welcome! You can just remove the strap it should be bolted on, you will have to remove the bracket.

I think you can get some slack from the riveted side....Drill out the rivet and then get a black Chicago fastener...one side screws into the other....I don't think they make longer straps. Had the same problem. Good luck!

congrats on the harley +1 on the just take the strap off. Had to on mine. I put the hammock seat on mine and there is no way to use original seat strap. it came with a new one, but I'm not really for sure the purpose of the strap anyway.

I agree. Ditch the strap. Without the strap is makes taking the seat on & off much easier. Like SilverEagle50, I never understood what the strap was on there for in the first place. It's certainly not needed to hold the seat on.

+2 on ditching the strap, never saw the purpose in it anyways? It will make taking the seat off much easier.
Congrats on your 1st HD! Welcome to the Bagger Life.
Wish you many safe miles!

Strap is only there for compliance reasons. Ditch it.

The strap sucks, throw it in the trash. Just be glad you don't have a RKC,they look like *** without that strap.
