Well not exactly wide open just unlatch end and the lid wasn't sitting down all the way. I don't know how but I heard the latch make noise going over a bump in the road. I think I had let off the throttle and was coasting to a stop and hit a bump so the exhaust wasnt so loud.

 

I've never left them wide open, but I had one unlatch itself while I was riding. The lid stayed closed so no problem. Now I try to remember to lock them so they can't open unintentionally.

 

I did. And I had a cheap nylon bike cover from WalMart in the bag at the time. The cover had opened up and was flying behind me like a chute on a drag car. i'm riding along waving and I see folks pointing. I'm thinking they're just being friendly bikers. Instead they were probably sayin' "Look at that azzhole!"

 

Quilty ! Left mine open last summer while leading a group of 46 bike on a charity run. Got it closed with out stopping the group,not good.
