Unlatched--many times. Open--never. The RKC bag lids do not open in the wind even if unlatched. (But it looks dumb enough having the leather straps flapping in the wind.)

Another advantage to the Classic bags! Self closing and no need to latch 'em every time. Also the color goes with anything...ha!

Once. Fortunately my riding buddy behind me had me pull over and fix it.

I need a door ajar ding.

 

The wife got something out of mine on Sunday and left it open, it was dark when we left and i felt the lid flop open as we headed out, then she asked me at the junction what kept me as she had to wait for me. Normally she cannot open it, it is quite funny watching her as she struggles with anything that does not have a buckle.

 

i forgot couple of times, one time i passed a mini pic-up he speeded up i run off & left him & i got to thinking why would he do that, got to checking my right one was open. i'm always going down the road & checking my now.

 

My girlfriend stuffed too much in the bag one day and the latch didn't catch completely. The bag came open while I was splitting lanes without me knowing it. Needless to say that I had a brush with a semi tire. Fortunately it only scuffed my lid a little bit. The HD covers conceal that imperfection. Eventually I will add the speaker lids with speakers......I double and triple check those damn lids every time now!!!!!!

 

I have left them unlatched but they have never came open on. my biggest problem is leaving the key in the lock and forget it laying on the ground when it falls out. did that one couple times while 300 mile away from home. luckly I went back to were i had my lid open and it was laying on the ground.

 

Done this so many times I'm in the habit of reaching down to see if they are closed.
And never done it in the rain or had anything go flying out...

If this is the worst that thing that will happen I'll do it once a week to keep the Road Gods happy!
