American Custom Slip-Ons: Too Lean?
Just installed the American Custom slip-ons - freaking LOVE the sound. I have the basic slip-ons, so the deep growl. Are there baffles in the muffler? I have heard that if you run w/o baffles the bike runs lean and hot. I just did my Stage 1 with high flow AC.

The bike runs lean and hot with the stock configuration. The ECM will adapt to the new AC and slipons. No change there. If you want it to run cooler you will need a better tune. Xied's are the cheapest way to go, not a tuner but they work great, if you are into tinkering with a tune and want a lot of control then you need a tuner.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the info. I have to say that these slip-ons ROCK. The dealership was surprised how much sound I got - even with the cat in. Plus, American Customs has really quality customer service. No, I am not a rep for the company, just really stoked with the product/service. Here is the response I got from them (within a few hours of my email):
There is an inner wall baffle, and while these are pretty open style mufflers- your bike will not run lean. All 2007 and newer touring model bikes come with a "closed-loop" system, basically where the o2 sensors detect any increase in the exhaust flow and automatically increase the injection to keep the bike running with the factory fuel-to-air ratio settings. Please let us know if you need any additional information. Thank you.

Well your fuel to air ratio is way lean from the factory. So, if was lean, its still lean. Decat the head pipes and either get Xieds or Fuel Pak from V&H to richen it up and the heat will go down. Myself and three buds that rode over to Daytona from North of Houston, all got AC slip-ons. They do sound awsome and you can't beat the price.

Took my 2012 RGU to Daytona and had American Custom replace my header with a de-cat version and added Bomber mufflers and XIEDs. Bike runs GREAT, much cooler (although wifey said it was so cold in Daytona this year she missed the heat) and no decel popping. Price was great and their service was super (no charge for any of the install!) Highly recommend them.
