V&H installation need new gaskets?
I have just done the 1K service on my new Ultra Ltd. Just received my new Monster Rounds and Dresser Duals from Fuel Moto. I had asked them to send all necessary gaskets, brackets, whatever, so I would have all the toys in one box. No gaskets... The book says use V&H part, but do I really need to? How about HD parts? How about use the existing ones? Only 1k on the motor, so ???
Thx all

Use the Vance and Hines gaskets.
I put V&H Power Duals on about a month ago, and they came with new gaskets.
They are flat, and not like the HD gaskets.
From the install instructions. (for Power Duals, perhaps the Dresser duals are different?)

Remove the stock exhaust gaskets and replace them with the V&H exhaust gaskets (supplied).
V&H kit #22899 (see accessories) is available for future use.

I very recently installed V & H Dresser Duals. As per instructions, I acquired the V & H exhaust gaskets for $9.99. As an aircraft mechanic, I always replace seals and gaskets when replacing components. H-D Screamin' Eagle exhaust gaskets are the same as the V & H ones. Same price I believe.

I installed V&H Power Duals and Blackout Rounds a couple months ago. I also use new gaskets/seals when I install something new and I new that the VH headers came with new crush seals/gaskets so I didnt buy any new OEM ones.
When I got the VH stuff I liked everything but their seals. They may have made the install easier but I wasnt comfortable with so I went and spent a few more bucks for the OEM ones.
The OEM are pretty easy to install if you do the following....
1) put them in the freezer for a few hours before you install them (or overnight)
2) put a light coat of wd40 on the outside just before inserting them.
These two steps help them slide in easier but the trick is to get the lined up with the cylinder head exhaust bore. Take your time and they'll slide right in with finger pressure.

Anyway, never had to freeze mine but the light coat of WD or the equilavant of will work.
