Default Buying a Lift in Maine

With-in the next few weeks we are going down to Maine and NH in the car.I was wondering where I might pick up a good lift, not the table style, just the hydraulic one that goes under the frame.I recently purchased an aluminum one up here, which is the same as the Sears Yellow jack, but I'm not happy with it.It is not as stable and rigid as I'd like it to be.So today it is going back to CDN Tire.
Thanks
Dan

Have a J&S or a Pitbull send to someplace in Maine or NH you'll be at. Like a motel or family..
Stay away from Harbor freight jacks...they aren't any better then what you have now.
As usual, you get what you pay for.

I'd rather not order one.I just like to go into a shop and buy one off the rack.

I can't recommend a certain retailer, but I would definately recommend buying your jack or anything else in NH. NH has no sales tax but all of the other New England states do have a sales tax.

I know that most dealerships carry jacks, but I don't know much about them. Seacoast is the largest dealer in NH and very easy to get to, just a few miles off of RT95 on RT1 in North Hampton.

Default Harbor Freight

I can't speak as to how good or bad the Harbor Freight tables are, but lots of folks on the forum have them. And i see there is now a Harbor Freight store in Amherst, NH. As a fellow Nova Scotia, I do enjoy shopping in NH whenever in that area.

You likely know this, but if not, go to the HF website for coupons before going to their stores.

I'll do some retail checking for you here in Maine. I expect slim pickings though.
Keep your eyes on Craigslist ( or Uncle Henry's ) for Maine and NH - you might get lucky with it all. I did,,, when I was in North Carolina.

If I were in your shoes I would go to the website of the manufactures I liked and email them to see where there dealers are located. Can't get any easier than that. For a good hoist that is stable and heavy enough for a Harley/Goldwing expect to pay $450-$500. Not cheap, but your bikes was not cheap either.
