Default FAIRING MIRRORS vs HANDLEBAR MIRRORS

I bought a set of fairing mirrors for my ultra. I'm now getting cold feet about drilling into my fairing and what if I don't like them...... I have only "tested" them while sitting on a scooter on the showroom floor, not on the road. Those of you that have road with them do you like them? Do they vibrate more or less, can you see more??

I would stick with bar mounted mirrors.. more options and easily changed... You can always flip them down low for the street glide look.

I put them on my 06 and they were better than the bar mounted mirrors. One thing though, I mounted them 1 inch higher than where the template puts them.

I use my mirrors so I have never liked the Fairing mirrors on my Street Glides.
I've put handle bar mirrors on all three Street Glides I have owned.

Just get you some better mirrors for your Handle Bars.
These have a great field of vision: http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US

I prefer the fairing mirrors. However if you ever decide to go to taller bars the mirrors may not work for you.
It is a personal thing you know.

I like the look of the SG mirrors however I would say that the handlebar mounted type on my previous two Ultras performed better

Couldn't you just use some double sided tape or something to test them out and see it you like them better or not. I think if I were adding them to a bike I would mount them 1" lower. That's because I'd like to put taller bars on some day though. From what I hear the faring mounted mirrors don't work well with taller bars unless you go 12" or more.

I had a set of SG mirrors on my 1996 Ultra and they worked really well, for seeing what the backside of my hands looked like. We all like what we like. What works for some, won't work for others. They do make some that mount to a chrome strip just under the windshield too, you might give those a try.

So, if you remove the SG mirrors, what do you do about
the holes?

The jury is still out if I'm gonna keep my SG mirrs.

+1 on the bar mounted mirrors.
