Just put a set of fairing mount mirrors on my Ultra Limited today. They went on pretty easy. I did have to get out the dremel to make the mirrors sit flush on the fairing.
I wrestled with this also but 2K miles ago I finally jumped and did it, my fairing might mirrors work great...looking back i should have done it the first day I brought it home.
I had stock fairing mirrors on my SG and after putting new bars kn I went with the bar mounted mirrors and can see so much better and do not vibrate as much
So, if you remove the SG mirrors, what do you do about
the holes?
The jury is still out if I'm gonna keep my SG mirrs.
I have heard but not 100 percent positive on this, if you want to remove the mirrors the hole that is left in the fairing is just a bit shy of the hole size to install some tweeter pods (speakers). Which means I would have a bigger hole in my fairing. But for more sound that might be ok. This is why I was leaning to installing the mirrors. If it doesn't work out I can always tell the wife I need some more speakers to fill the holes.
I thought about the fairing mirrors as well. I rode a buddys 07 EGC that has the fairing mounted mirrors and didn't like them. They gave a good view of my elbows, but unless I moved my arm up , that's about all I could see. Not only did I stay with the bar mounted mirrors, but I bought the 2" kit to raise the oem mirrors up. Now they're high enough that I can see behind me. Safer IMO.

I was thinking about going that direction as well. I wish I could move them out some instead of up. Did moving them up seem to give you better review site? All stock seems as if I'm looking at my elbow and I have to move it up our suck it in to see around it.
I put a painted inner fairing on my 13 street glide and put bar mounted mirrors on at the same time, I can see much better behind me, and they dont vibrate like the fairing mounted mirrors did. I like the bar mounted mirrors 100 times better.
