From Glide to King

Wisdom on both fronts.

I had a 2008 RKC which I really loved. But because a lot of my friends had streetglides and raved about them I decided to trade the RK for one. I changed the shocks to improve the harsh ride, could never solve the buffeting problem, and found that I really don't care to listen to music when I ride. So I sold the streetglide and tried several different bikes including BMW and Triumph. I finally realized that my mistake was selling the RKC so last month I traded my Triumph Rocket for the anniversary edition RK. I put a king tour pack on it and I think I'm finally back to the bike that is right for me. I enjoy switching from the stock shield to a short shield to no shield. And the detachable tour pack might just stay on all the time.

Did almost the same thing, sold the ultra and bought a new King. I just missed the open feeling and with soft lowers and fork mounted wind deflectors I get just as good wind protection on the cold days.
Never got used to the heavy front end and learned a radio is over rated and to much of a distraction
Long live the King

Finally got rid of the 09 Street Glide to get the bike I should have bought in the first place, Road King. I made enough on the SG to buy the RK with no money out of pocket. Gotta love Craigslist. Im happy. Candy Orange and Beer Bottle. Now I need to keep an eye on the classifieds for a set of pipes.
Most RK's especially the ones with leather bags and windshields that look like sails look like a bigger version of a softail to me.
What ever floats your boat man...

Temptation
Nice looking new ride! Enjoy!
As tempted as I have been in the past to "trade up" I have gotten my RK to the point of contentment. Thought I would loose the shield at first but decided I liked it. Put on a detachable king tourpak thinking I would remove it when not in use. The only time off the bike has been when washing the bike. I'm happy, the wife's happy, got everything I could possibly need.
