Wrist twist (how hard on acceleration)
RPM's at cruise
RPM's when shifting
Gas quality
Wind
Elevation
Ambient temps
Level or hilly
Stop and go, interstate etc.
I have a 103 with a Stage 1 where on one trip last summer I burned thru over 50 tanks of gas. Lowest MPG I got was 31 (85 mph in 110* temps into a headwind) and the most I got was 48 mpg (scenic ride, never over 45 mph in 70* temps no wind).
Sounds to me like most of the time people get worse mileage after mods. To me this would be a problem to me as I plan on doing some long road trips. Right now I am getting 48 mpg in mixed driving (mostly city) so I would expect at least low 50's out on the open road. Dropping down to 35 would suck.
How many people out there can honestly say that they are getting at least the same if not better mpg after a stage I?

Couple of examples-
My Sporty has a simple Stage 1, with X14iED's for fuel enrichment, open pipes and A/C. Completely depending on how I ride I can get 40 mpg or 48 mpg on the same road on the same day...just depending on how I ride.
On my Road King that had a Stage 1 and some bolt in cams, I got it dialed in pretty good and when cruising on the interstate (70-75 mph) I regularly got 52-53 mpg. Combined riding bounced around 46-48 mpg. In stock condition I was getting 44-46 mpg.

That is exactly what I was looking for. Awesome to end up with a better running, more powerful bike AND get improved mileage as well!

I have a 95" (5 speed) with 10.5:1 Wiseco's, 577 cams, Feuling pump, Ness Big Sucker, Rinehart TD's and a custom tuned PCIII that regularly gets 47-49 mpg at anything up to 75 mph. Mileage drops above that but rarely goes below 38 mpg no matter how much I abuse the throttle.
All the baggers that ride with me get 40 mpg and better, and range from stone stock to Stage 1 w/VIED's.
My wife's Stage1 '07 Heritage went from 35 mpg to 40+ mpg after installing VIED's and an SE compensator. On one 65 mph leg she got 48 mpg. No complaints.
