Default Extended warranty question???

My wifes 2 year factory warranty is about to run out this month on her cvo softail, someone told me that if she gets the 5 year extended warranty it will only be good for 3 years because it somehow begins from the original 2 year warranty, wtf?? How can this be true since the 2 year factory warr. is almost gone, and we are giong to be paying for 5 year warr. On my 09 road king I bought the 5 year ext. warr. when I bought the bike and it is covered for a full 7 years= 2 factory and 5 year ext. Anyone have the real lowdown before we head to the dealer to negotiate this deal????

Yup that is correct, take the two years off of that and thats what you have. There are many threads on the subject in fact I just extended mine for three more years and Mr. Palmer @ Kutter HD with phone # etc is in several. It cost me $1200 full warranty excluding tire and wheel. Do it before the original expires or the price goes up to used bike prices.

Then what you bought was the CNA 7 year warranty. Check your contract.

It makes more sense to wait and buy the extended coverage at the point where your first 2 year factory coverage is about to expire. If you buy an extended warranty right off the bat, then your bike is now totally under the CNA warranty terms and conditions and not the factory warranty terms and conditions.

You can buy 3,4,5,6,and 7 year extended warranties, with or without tire/wheel coverage. Remember to subtract 2 years from each of these numbers and that is how many years you will have after the first two years of factory warranty.

When I bought mine, Jim Palmer at Kutter HD, was by far the least expensive in the nation. And it does not matter where you purchase the CNA warranty because once purchased, it's good anywhere.

If you extend it another 5 years you get a total of 7 years. After the 7 years you can extend it another 5 years for a total of 12 YEARS !!!

I you buy the HD ESP warranty when the bike is new,yes you loose 2 years.

Buying it after the factory warranty runs out should give the full term if I'm correct.

I bought the HD 5-year warranty when I bought my bike new and it extends my warranty to a full 7 years, I have it in writing and it's reflected on the warranty card I got from HD. Based on other threads I've read, apparently there is more than one HD warranty available.

As I said, read your contract and don't depend on opinions or here-say. Your contract will tell you the straight skinny. The contract language is all that is relevant.

It really just depends on how it is worded but they have different prices for new and used bikes and I think the new price reflects the 2 yr factory warranty but if you buy 5 years after your 2 years is running out then you get 5 years , and you can really get 17 years if you are under 75000 miles at the 12th year cause at 11 yrs and 11 mo and 74900 miles you can buy another 5 yes with the HD esp as it is today , they may change it though first of the week LOL

I dug up my contract and I did buy the 7 year warr. bought my bike in 09 and warr. expires in2016. That kinda sucks that they dont add the 7 years on to the original 2 year factory warr. If Im reading you guys right and let factory warr. run out then go back and buy 5 year extended are yall saying she will get the full 5 years or are they still going to deduct the 2 years, this **** is confuseing me. I dont understand why they are going to take 2 years off if we buy a 5 year ext.warr.
