De Cat header pipes
How many in here have just decatted their head pipes on their geezer glides and have been happy with the sound of just doing that. I just did it on a extra set of pipes I had and was trying to decide wether to do just that or have the mufflers modified as well. I think I want to keep it looking stock as much as possible.

Decat
I de-catted mine and noticed a significant improvement in the sound. Didn't stay that way long before I changed mufflers. I used stock mufflers that had been re-cored with 2 1/4 inch baffles. Sounds GREAT with a very low bassy tone. Love it! And the bike looks completely stock including the EPA stamp on the mufflers. Absolutely ZERO issues with heat any more.

If your not changing the air cleaner you are fine just removing the cats even if you change the mufflers at the same time. Did my cats the first weekend after I bought it and put Rhineharts on it and all is good.
Just cut a square hole in the flat part of the exhaust and pull the cat material out and weld up the square door you cut out. Everything stays lined up and if you smooth out the welds, when the exhaust heats up and discolors again you can't tell it was done.
