Default Fuel Moto header flange to jug gap?

I'm installing the Fuel Moto header on my 2013 Glide. Took some time lining it up but the ends are in the exhaust ports on the jugs. I was able to slide the flanges pretty far down and tighten the bolts hand tight and then a little more. I need to torque it down but I can see the flange is not going to be flush with the jugs. Should they be? I'm using the stock gaskets. I only have about 500 miles on the bike so they look brand new...or did before I tried lining the pipe up with the holes. How much of a gap should there be?

The gap between the flange and the jug is completely irrelevant as long as the nuts are engaged. The gap is the result of the robust collar on the FM pipe as opposed to the crimped or flared end of the stock pipe.

If you look at the stock pipe next to the FM pipe you'd see the reason for the gap you're seeing.

Cool. I don't remember a gap like that on my V&H pipe on my softail so I was worried something was out of spec. I'll tighten it down tomorrow and put things back together. Can't wait to test this thing out. Thanks.

Default wrong gaskets

is the end of the fuel moto pipe the same as stock stock seems to have a taper on end of header that wedges into the stock wedge shaped gasket. isnt the fuel moto a square edge ring like most which requires the small flat gaskets. i pulled up pic of a moto 2 into 1 pic and it has the ends that require the flat gaskets. unfortunately i cant copy the picture for here. when i look at your picture the square end ring isnt even inside the head port, its sitting on the outside edge of the wedge gasket. have u tried starting it, im wondering if its leaking

I've had my Jackpot head pipe on for 18000 miles using the tapered stock gaskets. No problems. Jackpot told me to use the tapered stock gaskets and torque the nuts per the service manuals instruction.

Looks good, just like mine. I used the stock gaskets per FM instructions. Been fine for 6k miles.

I'd be concerned if the flange were pulled up tight to the head! Your good!
