Default 150 on a 3 inch rim.....

Found a 150/80B16 77H Metzeler ME880 rear tire I might want for my 2006 SG. this tire has the good 77H load rating not the lesser 71H that people seem to buy and worry the load rating is too low. Anywho it says it needs a 3.5 wide rim not a 3 like my stock wheel.....Chance it or just get a MU85?

Default 150 tire on 3" rim

Years ago I ran a 150 880 Metzler on a 3" rim on my Wide Glide. The Metzler guy told me thats the minimum width for that tire and really should have a 3.5 rim. I always had a cupping issue no matter how careful I was with air pressure. Was it the fault of the rim??? I don't know but it was always a problem...

I ran an Avon 150/80 on my stock 3" rim with no problems. I don't believe Harley has ever offered a 3.5" wide rim, yet have fitted 150/80 tyres on many models on 3" rims, which Metzeler offer that tyre for as a recommended replacement. I would be happy to use one!

Ok cool thanks gents 150/80B 16 77h it is! $150 or so for it. Still can't decide if I want to just get a stock Metzeler for the front or find a 18" SG take off...

When backing up your belt can shift a little because you have a wide front pulley. I had the 160 E3 on mine but went back to a 140 since I didn't like the transition in curves.
