A dual clutch transmission would be awesome and really suit the Touring bikes. Harley should license Honda's technology...

We have it in both a VW and Skoda. Porsche invented it for their 1980s Le Mans racing cars, so Honda may have licenced it from Porsche!

Default Just curious

What is the overall improvement gained with this 7 speed direct drive? Is it stronger, as in better made and able to withstand the torque the M8 potentially puts out? I see a few threads here and there about the OEM trans loosing 2nd, 3rd even 6th gear

I've had a DD7 in my 2009 bagger with a 117" kit for about 20k miles. I'm liking it so far, !st thru 6th is closer ratio and seems it spools up quicker, especially 3rd and 4th. I'm sure the extra torque of the 117 helps that a bit too.

Cons is the cost. I did have to go in and replace the main drive gear seal because it was leaking @ 15k.

How is the shifting noise compared to stock? Mine KLANKS like hitting a glass table with a hammer and grinds between gears. Sent it back for warranty repair & got it back just the same.

Smooth and positive shifts is my experience so far. I read about your trials and tribulations on another forum and sorry for the problems you have encountered. Did you install the timken main drive bearings with it?
