No, no, no. Don't mess with shorter shocks, no matter what anyone on here says. You are in Connecticut. It isn't that expensive to ship your seat to Mean City Cycles in NC. Hell, I shipped mine from Idaho--and it was expensive to ship.
Just tell Mean City exactly what you want done and it will be done correctly. I suggest that perhaps as mentioned here a local upholsterer might be able to do what you want. But to me, it was worth the money to send the seat to people who know what they are doing--and why they are doing it. Have done it thousands of times.
You want the operator's seat lowered 1-inch and also want the sides of the operator's seat shaved. You want the passenger seat left as is. They will do that and you will get what you want.
Period.
