Cool Is this suppose to be like this....

I was just trying to figure out how to route my new amp wires and I noticed that some of the wires looked like they should be under a clamp to hold them in place. This is how this came from the factory/dealer. This is a 2012 SG.

Aren't wires 1 & 2 suppose to be under clamp 3,4? Notice how they're on top of the clamp...just free to move around. I guess it's not a big deal...just was wondering. I'll fix it now that I'm trying to figure out where my amp wire is suppose to go. Any thoughts on the amp wire?

That's how the wires are on my 2011 Ultra. Can't comment on the amp wiring. What amp are you installing? And where are you putting it? Or want to put it?

Thanks. I pulled that plastic piece that I thought was a clamp. It's actually a plastic spacer like thing. I think how it shows in the picture is the correct way. Just didn't look right. Oh well.

I'm putting in the HD Boom Amp. I need to run the power cord back to the battery. I'm just wonder what's the best why to route so that it looks nice. I'm assuming it's pull up the fuel tank and route the wire with the main wire harness. Just was wondering if there was an easier way.

You got it on correctly.

So you have a tourpack? Amp mounted under the tourpack? I did the that upgrade this winter (4 channel BOOM Audio amp like the CVO's have) and pulled the tank to run the wires in the caddy on the backbone. Basically did the install like the instructions say.

If your doing a 2 channel amp without the tourpack then sorry, can't help.

No tourpak. The amp is mounted under the front fairing. I'm running the wire from the front fairing to the battery. I'm guessing there's got to be an easier way then pulling the fuel tank.

The tank is easy to pull and there is a caddy down the backbone that will hold the wires. You cannot get the wires through the caddy without removing the tank and opening the caddy.

You can see the caddy on the backbone. It is the black box looking thing on the top of the backbone. There is alot of wires in there ziped tied down to the caddy.

Pull the fuel tank. 10 min job. Run he wires through the wire harness. A little WD-40
In the black rubber sleeve opening at the fairing end and the power wire will slip right through. Much neater cleaner and your wire will be safe from rubbing on the frame over time. I did it and it was way too easy!

I just installed an amp in the fairing a couple of weeks ago on my 09.You don't need to lift the tank, but you do lift the console and run the wiring under there. One bolt in the front and one in the rear, the amp wiring runs along with the wiring that is already there and ty-wraps to the top of that little bracket thingy. There is a tab on the front edge of that bracket that secures the ty-wrap.

Do I need to put in the caddy or can I just put it right along side the caddy. Looks like there's a little channel for the wire to go into. I put the wire in the channel I'm talking about. Or is it just better to put it in the caddy?

EDIT:

Never mind. Realized it was a pretty dumb question. I just opened up the caddy and put it in there. 10 sec job...no problem.
