Default Miles on original tire?

I stopped at the dealer yesterday and while there I had them take a look at my rear tire as I'm getting ready for a 6000 plus trip and he told me the tire still looks new. Is that possible? It's the original rear tire in a 2011 flhtk and I have 13,250 miles on it.

Yep, I have 10k on my original tires and they look great. My buddy had a RK Classic that he put 20k on before changing out his rear tire. It all just depends...

Funny you mention that. I have just over 10K on my CVO Ultra and the tire still looks new. I see a lot of folks post how bad the original tires are. And while they might not be the best tire out there but they are some of the longest lasting. But you do have a few varibles to consider like road conditions and riding style as well.

With tires it is more of how you ride verses miles. For me I am easy starting and stop so with my 08 FLHTC I got 23k on the rear before I changed. On the new bike I have 13K on it and the tire still looks like new.

The newer framed bikes are getting 2 to 3 times the miles of the 07 (08?) and earlier.
Both of my 07's went through rears at about 5-6K and one was a Dyna.......

Not to imply its tied to the frame change, for they may have reworked the compound of the tires, but the new ones are lasting like they allways should have.

Biker90....do you ride with the Hudson Valley Riders?

My 2011 RK has 15k on the rear which is pretty good but cupping on the outsides. Started around 10k. Had an 09 and wore the same way. Not tire pressure but must be the roads down here.

No I don't.
I had a nail in my front tire so that is only a year old, but yeah surprisingly the rear looks excellent. I guess I'll take the trip with it.

09 Road King with 12,500 miles and the tires are running strong. With the newer frames they also went with the wider rear tires, and yes, they do last longer. I love the OE Dunlops!

I have a 2010 FLHTC replaced the rear at 21000 probably could have gotten another couple of thousand but like you was leaving on long trip. Am now at 26000 on the front and will change it next month before leaving on another trip. I don't know why other than the bigger rear tire and or harder compound but they are awsome compared to my other bikes.

A new tire at 13000? nice. Mine got changed at about that time. The newer bikes do keep tires much longer thatn the old ones though, but still I would not think you will get much more that 15 or so on a tire.
