Default Loss of throttle response

I have a 2009 Ultra Classic. Just got it in November. I was using my cruise this Sunday and all of the sudden the bike just lost power and there was no throttle response at all. The engine light also came on. I luckily could pull over, shut the bike off, and let it set a few minutes and it started up again. I went another mile or so with the cruise on it did it again. Bike lost power, engine light came on, and no throttle response. Pulled over, shut everything off, waited a few minutes and it started up again. At this point I was just hoping to get home but did not use the cruise anymore and didn't have any more issues. I worked the throttle a lot to check response and it did fine. I actually had it up to about 80 mph for just a brief time and the throttle still had good response. I have read a lot of threads about the Harley throttle response issues but has anyone else had this happen just when they were using their cruise control? Any other input you guys have about the throttle issues is welcome. I did read about the ECM connector pins and using dielectric grease on them after cleaning but I do not know anything about how to get to the ECM. As always thanks in advance for your help.

Sounds like the infamous 'Limp Mode'. Check the harness going into the throttle body as thats where many have reported the problem is/was. Often times it requires the connector be replaced. Hopefully you got an extended warranty with your purchase.

I had the same issue. It's probably the brake switch malfunction - but get it to a dealer as soon as you can after it "quits" on you, since the error codes self-clear.
The brake switch is part of a factory recall and I went through three before they could finally clear the issue on my 09 Electra Glide Classic.

Sorry but no cigar....Brake light switch ONLY involves the braking system not the ECM or the fuel system.. As far as the error codes, they stay in the system until you manually clear them...

The ECM is under the seat on top of the battery.
If you unplug it, be real careful not to bend any of the pins.

I've had this issue several times on my 09. First time the dealer (under warranty) traced it to that electrical connector on the side of the throttle body, kinda tucked behind the air cleaner. They chose to replace the connector (ok, not my dime). Since then, several times it has jumped into "limp mode", will idle, rev a little but very slowly, and throws a code. (There are some great threads on reading codes)
To shorten a long story- that throttle body connector is probably the one you want to clean, apply dialectric, reinstall. Works now for me whenever this happens.
That plug seems to be a little out in the weather/pressure wash.

I had mine go into limp mode a couple of times. Checking the codes is a good way to figure out where to start to look. The last time it ended up being a spark plug that went bad in the rear cylinder.

Limp Mode!! Check the wires on the throttle body and make sure they are away from the push rods.

+1 on the connector pins at the throttle body. Has happened to me. Had the bike gotten wet recently??

limp mode? really?

the bike runs fine when the cruise control is not engaged as stated above. This would indicate "limp mode" is fine at least IMO.
