I just installed these bars on my Ultra. I am 6' 1" with average reach. My stock bars left me feeling like I was leaning and my arms were almost locked. Now I have not had a chance to get out and ride yet, doing some other upgrades and maintenance, but they feel pretty good sitting on the bike. I feel like the bars come right to me now and I can sit more upright. Hope this helps and I will let you know when I have a chance to test them on the road.

 

Try Heritage bars they will give you a little more reach and not so expensive and they are chromed . plus doesn't need new wires .

 

I have had the 575 for three years and never had a thought they could be improved on. yes wider than stock.

 

I have the 575's on my 09 and they have been a positive improvment over stock, the 575's are 34.5" wide, 10" rise with 13" pullback. The stock bars are 31" wide, 7.5" rise with 12.5" pullback. There is not much difference in the pullback but what has helped me is the additional rise let me rotate the bars back toward me which with my short reach made it more comfortable. The added width does not even seem to be noticable to me.

 

I just installed these as well. I was in a very similar situation as you and they fit the bill great. As others have said, they are a bit wider, which I really liked, they have a little more pullback, they have a little more rise to them, but rotate them down a tad and they are perfect. You will need to run your wires internally, no need to swap brake line, I ran my clutch cable in the fairing but out the gap where the wiring used to exit the left side under the bar. No binding and looks good. He is a pic of the bar so you can see what the difference is against your stock bar.

 

575's are not a huge change from stock. A little up, a little out, and a little back. Took a couple before and after pics on an Ultra I installed them on.

 

I put a set on my limited about two months ago. They fixed my reach and locked elbow issue. Quality of the bar is great! No option but to run the wires internally but once you are done you will love how it cleans up the bike. I would go +4 on the clutch cable and +2 on the brake lines. Some say you can use stock but why go through the re-routing issues if you don't have to.

 

Your fairing mirrors will probably be obsolete though..
You might have to go to perch mounted mirrors.

 

actually if the purpose was to get 1-2 inch pullback the bar is positioned so the mirrors are as good as with stock bar.

 

You notice though, that of everyone touting them, not one has an SG, other than you?
