Default Right rear speaker/volume switch issue

Not sure why I decided to check my rear speakers today, but the right rear speaker was not working; 2009 Ultra. Unfortunately I got home late, had to cook the dinner, and didn't have much time for troubleshooting. I pulled the speaker out, tried known good speaker, but nothing. I then tried the (rear) volume switch on the speaker pod, it would not adjust the volume, but I could use the other switch to change the song.

- Initial thought was bad speaker, but that was disproved.
- I haven't been under the hood in a while unplugging anything, but then again I never thought to check the speaker either.
- No amp to the rear speakers
- possible bad switch?

Has anyone encountered this problem yet? I won't have time to troubleshoot this weekend as I am teaching both days, so I will have limited time this week. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Rick

The passenger volume switch is for the intercom, not speaker volume.

Should have said headset volume, not just intercom. Definitely not for pod speaker volume.

Check the volume on the headset... no issues, but... speaker is working again. I was looking in the Electrical Diag manual and perhaps there was a short in the wiring. That is the only thing I can come up with since it started working after I reseated the speaker.

those damn electrical gremlins strike again.

since the speaker wires themselves run from front to rear with no connections anywhere in between, I would be looking at 1 of 2 places

1. the connection itself in the pod. either the connectors on the wire or the speaker connectors itself
2. the speaker selector switch in the lower inner fairing where your accessory and spot driving lamp switch is. Notorious for failing.
