I changed from Amsoil 20W50 to the Amsoil gear lube fore motorcycles. And now, neutral is much harder to find. Anyone else experience this?

What weight is the gear oil you switched to? Is it Amsoil Severe Gear 75w90? Ive run that in both my bikes for a while now with no problem. In my experience, usually neutral woes come from the primary. Ive run up to 140w gear oil in a transmission without causing problems for neutral. Overfilled primary, underfilled primary, incorrect primary tension, heavy fluid in primary all cause problems finding neutral. Just out of curiosity what fluid are you running in the primary?

Nope. I went from 20W50, to Redline, then back to Amsoil Severe Gear and no issues with finding neutral so far.

Amzoil 75-140 didn't Help in making neutral easier to get, nor did Mobil 1 75-140, Royal Purple 75-140 or any 20W-50. Best results were with Spectro 6 speed and Redline Heavy Shockproof. Stayed with Redline as it is easier to get where I live.

Now on my first load of Motul 10W-60 in the primary. So far so good in the first 1200 miles.

I never had an issue with finding neutral until now. I'll give it some time and see what happens. I also went with 20W50 Amsoil in Crankcase. I was running Amsoil 60 for about a year.

I would double check your primary fluid level and tension also if you just changed all three holes. We're all human afterall, you may have filled it a little on the high side. That would cause the symptoms you're experiencing. I know you want to suspect the trans fluid since you just changed weights, but the primary is always my first place to look if neutral is tough. If you don't find anything in the primary, I would run it until next fluid change and switch back.

Just my $.02

I've used Amsoil 75w-90 severe duty gear oil for years and haven't had any problems. FYI.

I would look at clutch adjustment or primary oil level. I have 75w140 in the trans and 15w40 diesel oil in the primary. Not even a clunk cold when the clutch is right.
