Ok. I have a 1999 FLHR road kink. I need to remove the speedo and the whole chrome thing a ma bob from the top of the gas tank. ( i dont have a manual). There is a tall "dome-nut" just below the speedo. I took it off and that "almost" lets me remove the console. However, there is something holding it on towards the rear of the fuel tank. ??? I dont see any othe bolts or nuts? What am I missing??? Thanks. Gary.

 

Gary, if you are having a problem with that, get a manual. It will only help you.

 

there's just two mounting points. the nut below the speedo and the bolt towards the bottom. then it just lifts up and you unplug the connectors. you may have a cover over the lower bolt

Not terribly hard to figure out, if you know what fasteners look like!
The manual is great for people who are, and are not, mechanically inclined.

 

Lol..Theres a round Harley emblem about the size of a quarter. It must be some sort of decorative pc. It must be under that. And Be afraid..I'm an aircraft mechanic. (seriously). I have just never messed wit a Harley and didnt want to screw up some chrome pot-metal b.s. Thanks.

 

Yeh, they cover the philips head bolt with those emblems...

I had actually thought maybe you had one, and that was why you weren't so sure! I've got one on mine also!

BTW, the emblem is usually just held on with double sided foam tape.
