Default Different head pipe or not

Have a 2011 street glide and can say the bike does run well. I bought it used about a year ago already had V/H slip ons,SE air cleaner and PC/V. My question , is it really worth the money to get a different head pipe to do away with the cat. Everyone tells me how much cooler the bike will run,etc etc but using the bike for day trips of 300 to 500 miles a day it seems to do fine. I don't plan on any cam upgrades of any kind, honestly if I needed a hot ride I would get a different bike. Any way any info or opinions would be appreciated.

I'd say no. If the heat from the cat doesn't bother you, leave it. On a stage 1 bike, you are not going to see $500 of performance from a new aftermarket headpipe.period. If the heat does bother you, you could gut your current headpipe for next to no cost

Since you purchased your bike used, and it already had a Stage One on it, maybe the previous owner had the cat removed from the stock pipe too. Would explain the cool running.

What he said. If you don't think it's hot, then it's not hot.

If heat is the only issue and you are fine now, keep it like it is. There are other benefits to a aftermarket 2-1-2, true dual or catless stock pipe. Lots of opinions and threads about it.

Regardless of opinions, the fact is that these "benefits" amount to less then 5hp on a stage 1 motor with a good aftermarket $500+ header and a great tune. Even less power is gained by gutting the stock headpipe (somewhere in the realm of 2hp). If the OP doesn't plan on continuing with engine mods, that sound like useless expense to me.

No argument on that. I'm not trying to sway the decision either way. Just pointing it out. Also, I am happier about the sound of my cat less system than anything. Really pumped up the sound in a good way IMO.

I'd get Fullsacs Sport pipe for $279 exchanged.

he mods a stock header and it sounds like it works pretty good. Its on his website.

I carved the catalyst from my header before it had 1k miles and it immediately ran so much cooler. I personally do not think the performance difference will be all that discernible unless you do a significant build.
