somehing i've wondered about for quite some time and have googled many times to no avail, did the 2006 88" show any performance gains with the newer heads and intake? I currently run a 98" with late model heads and it runs great, all I want or need. i always port my heads before I install them. but my question is, in the stock configuration is there a performance difference in the 06's or is this another of those areas noone wants to talk about. I expect it had to with a better flowing head, but was it so insignificant that noone ever talked about it.

 

I've read several places that the 2006+ heads flowed better than earlier heads. Something about bigger/better ports, etc.

I know that's not the kind of hard data you're looking for...

On the 2006 and up TC heads they made the ports bigger on both the intake and exhaust. On the intake side they raised the floor a little bit. Pretty good heads right out of the box, but with a little work they can be great heads.

 

my nephew wants to buy his first harley and asked my opinion. I said 02, depending on how much he wants to spend, 09 or better. hard to favor any after 02, took me forever to even consider a T/C. but have to admit after a 98" on my RK my evo doesn't get much attention. i have another set of 06 heads, just thinkin ahead.
