RE: Thinkin About more Power
ok..just got off the phone with Phil, we're gettin ready to build HarleyRulz bike....i spent 4400 bucks with GMR...got the stage II with the R&R cast heads, 615/585 gear cams, HP 55mm TB...i also bought some Jims ProLite pushrods...i already had the pipes and had done the clutch and a SERT(which i'm gonna sell with a custom map on the ECM)...i would not do anything different...total bout 5k give or take...first outing on the dyno was a paultry 108/106...but the air was horrible at 108deg and 80% humidity...yes i know about correction but the air was the only difference except the tweakin on SERT for the 2nd dyno...it yielded 118/113....my V&H true duals give up some torque but at 90ftlbs @ 2000rpm its still a monster....next i did the 3.37 gears and the bike came alive...now my bike and Phils bike are at Shooters for a DD6 tranny....i got alot of respect for Phils build and the HQ stuff but have never spoke with Doug...both ROCK for a little ole 98"

RE: Thinkin About more Power
Like Bryan said... the builds both of did absolutely ROCK!
Mine is a 98" Head-Quaters build using Head-Quarters modified stock heads setup @ 10:1 CR, HQ-0039G cams, and a D&D FatCat exhaust. It makes 113/111 and will flat GET-IT anytime, anywhere. Mine was roughly $2500 + pipe + tuning.
Your best bet is to assemble a list of your goals, requirements, and wishes. Then call a couple reputable places (HQ, GMR, etc) and discuss it with them. Compare the recommendations and choose one. Then FOLLOW thier recommendations!

I did the build in my signature for $1400 in parts, $300 for dyno tune, and I did all the work myself (12 hours labor).
My future changes will be another $400 in parts/services, and another dyno tune, plus the labor (approx. 6 hours).
If you are paying for labor, I would expect a dealer/indy to take about 10 hours for the motor work.....that would be about $800 +/-. So factor that into whatever the parts are going to cost that you decide to go with.
If you only want to do it once, and get 100/100 or more............I would look into the Head Quarters HQ-0039 cams. They are very hot right now and are producing 110/110 and more. They like 10-1 compression or more, and you can use SE 1550 flattop pistons. Just have your heads done and make sure they cc and mill them for the correct compression.
