Default help:installed amp and now red key, no tach, and no check engine light

I just installed a Rockford amp in my 07 SG and that is all great but now after all back together I have red key light on all the time, tach not working, and check engine light does not come on when first pushing run switch. I hear fuel pump spraying and bike runs fine and all other things seem to be working. I checked and rechecked to make sure nothing pinched or unhooked. The dtc code its giving me is missing serial data and gives part number for speedometer. I haven't ridden to actually see if speedo is working. Any ideas as to what might be the problem?

Was the amp plug n play or did u have to tap into and / or splice into the factory wiring? If so perhaps you tapped into a computer data wire instead of a power or accessory wire? Some of the wire / tracer colors can be hard to differentiate from one another...

Also check your battery voltage. Is it fully charged? I've heard stories of strange happenings when the battery is discharged or at a partial charge state.

I know this may seem obvious, but are you sure nothing was accidentally unplugged or disturbed during the install? (i.e., tach accidentally unplugged?)

Let us know what you find out.

The computer on these bikes sense all kinds of things like voltage drops, open circuits, etc.
Where did you tap into for power?

I ran 10ga back to battery and grounded just in front of the battery where the battery grounds.

First I would disconnect the power to the amp, unhook it from the battery.
Just to see if it all starts working again.
Then go from there.

I have experienced the same issues you talk about. What were you able to identify as the source of the issue?

You have disturbed the tach connections. Better double check those connections first. That amp sits very close and you have moved around a lot of cables to get it in there. Probably something simple.
