Default Road King Apes

I am putting 14" apes on my 99 FLHR, I need throttle and clutch cables, where should I get them and how long do I need to go with them?

i would get plus 6,
I just did 16" gangsters on my 2000 roadking and plus 8 is perfect, even a bit to hide in the nacelle.

I went with magnum chromite II, great stuff

LA Choppers offers great kits. Burly offers cheap kits, quality suffers tho from what Ive read.

Youll need brake lines too no? I did for my 10" apes.

When I installed my 14" on my 2010 Road King I used +6 for both brake and clutch. That's what was recommended to me by the pro's. I think +6 is perfect.

I did 12.5 mini apes and I feel + 6 is minimum. My thoughts are that if I go to 14 I would go to +8. I did buy Magnum cables and brake lines and they are great.

A harley dealership should have a measuring kit for throttle/idle cables, clutch, and brake line, and may measure them for you if you buy from them. If your using harley bars then they will show you in a harley book what cables/lines you need. Be careful as if you go with drag or magnum chromite, or harley, they all measure there cables differently. And to prevent you from asking when you get there, when you get ready to install the lower brake line you must pull the roll pin from the bottom of the steering neck as the holes in the junction block will not be the same as your original line.

I went with 14" apes and +8 was a little longer than I needed for clutch cable.. +6 on the upper brake cable perfect. Magnum shielding black chromite for me.

I think mine were 6 over but I agree with Ecuperate, HD bike parts dot com. Johnny was extremely helpful and supplied everything I needed for my last 3 ape hanger installs
