Default 2012 police suspension: different from stock?

Do police bikes have different suspension from a stock touring bike?

A buddy of mine just traded his 05 Road King Police for a 2012 Electra Glide Police bike, but hasn't had a chance to ride it just yet (winter in Michigan, <sigh>).

He's had the seat replaced with a solo seat but he says sitting on it, it feels much stiffer than his old bike.

I do think he needs to ride it to bit to get a feel for it before he jumps to conclusions about this, but I was curious to know if this makes sense to police bike owners, and if so, if there's any good advice beyond what you'd normally see (Progressive, Ohlins, etc).

Thanks!

Yes, the suspension has changed since his '05. Not just police bikes though, all touring bikes changed in '09.

Right, I know that, thanks, but comparing 2012 Police to 2012 non police bikes - do they have the same suspension?

Yes. Tires are run flats on cop bike, otherwise the same.

I understand run flats are not for 2 up riding.

The run flat tires are not designed for two up riding, my cop bike came with a sticker on it specifically saying that. Changed the rear one, front still a run flat. As for suspension, I don't think the cop bikes have any different shocks or front springs that the standard ones. I do love the air seat on my FLHPI, rides better than my 2011 FLHTCUSE6 did

The suspensions are the same as the civilian models. If his bike felt "stiff" when he got on it, no ride yet of course, that could be due to the seat air pressure set to its max or very high, and/or too much air in the rear air suspension.

Thanks, the seat has been changed out by the dealer.
