Default MGS true duals install and evaluation

Well, the pipes showed up yesterday and I found time today (woke up at 5 am) to get them installed with a short ride afterward. Had the Jackpot 2-1-2 on the bike and really liked them. Installed the MGS true duals, and I have to say they seem to have a bit more power to them. Sorry there isn't a reliable dyno in the area so I have no numbers, just seat of the pants gauge. Here's a few pics.
First, the bike with the Jackpots.

and without the heat shields.

Then, removed the o2 sensors

they unplug here.

installed the larger bung plugs and the exhaust flanges on the new pipes.

Then installed the rear pipe bracket the way their video shows, but turns out it is backwards.

Here's the correct way.

Next, I got the front pipe installed with the supplied bracket and installed the mufflers.

Sorry I didn't get more pics during the install. I was having trouble with their sparse instructions but figured it out soon enough. Here it is sans heat shields.

The jury is still out as to if I'll keep them on or go back with the Jackpots. The Jackpots have a little mellower, deeper sound, but these really make the bike fly. I'm going to take it out for a long ride to the other side of the state on Monday, so if anything changes with my opinion, I'll let you know.

Great post, really shows the transformation. I also want to hear an update after you get some more miles. Thanks for sharing!

Awesome illustration Jim,
A noticable difference in a positive direction is great info.
I have been asking about a good exhaust system and I was leaning towards V&H Big Shot duals. I had them on my 2001 FXDWG. Now that I have an FLHTP I had questions but not much feedback. I see that Direct Cycle Parts sells a Stage 1 kit for 95 to 2012 touring universal fit. I would really like your feedback if you have the time. I was looking into ordering them this week.

after all the hype, I looked at the numbers and chose MGS. I really like a "true dual" look (not a x pipe) and they hold the numbers plus add some. If I was going with a X pipe, I would have chosen the fullsac D pipe. Just another opinion

I was up in Clearwater all day (took the car) going over taxes with my accountant.
I get to ride tomorrow on about a 250 mile ride. I will report my findings tomorrow night. Bear in mind, I really really liked the look and sound of the Jackpots, so these will have to be something special to sway my opinion.

I had the Big shots on my WG also and liked them, but for a bagger I prefer the left right side look. I think the Big shots are a bit on the harsh side also if you plan on doing any long distance riding.

Since I have the 2-1-2 and 4" Moto setup I have to ask, what made you decide to try the TDs? I've been very happy with the performance and sound but only have the stock setup to compare against.

Nice writeup, BTW. Thanks for sharing.
