Got a buddy with a 2012 Ultra that he changed out the stock mufflers with some Bassani's and a Kuryakyn Procharger air cleaner. It's running rich. I suggested getting a fuel processor, but wonder if he should have it dealer checked first?

 

How do you know it is running rich? By all accounts, putting pipes and a cleaner on it with no tuner should make it run dangerously lean.

 

maybe not "dangerously lean", but with high flow intake and exhaust he may be lean-ish. ( the bassanis may flow more than stock mufflers, but the catalytic convertor is still in place so flow is not maximised.)

there are all kinds of ways to determine of the mixture is lean/good/rich- "reading sparkplugs" is not one of them that method belongs back in the days of carbs and gas without ethanol.

your pal can determine the running condition in a number of ways- if unsure, consult a pro.
