+1 on the S-100 paste wax. It's a little hard to work with but man it leaves an very slippery easy to clean surface.

This stuff is great on black. Great shine and hides those little micro scratches you get on the darker colors.
++++ for black bikes.

S100 Cleaner when needed & then a coat of S100 Paste Wax. My last bike was black & it was outstanding.

Default Which wax

Griff, After detailing cars for years working in a Cadillac dealer.. I've used a lot of different waxes and polish. What I found works best is this :

1.Wash the bike with a high quality wash. Meguires Gold class is good stuff . Put the bike in a cool spot out of the sun.

2. Blow off the excess a water and micro towel dry

3. To remove fine swill marks in the clear coat you might want to clay the bike and then polish it with 3m Hand Glaze of Race Glaze.. This will fill or remove any imperfections or swill marks in the clear coat. Let it haze and wipe off with a micro fiber towel.

4. Best product I've found for a unmatched shine and is last forever is Colinite #845 insulator wax. Use a small amount,it goes a long way. Wipe it on let it dry,wipe it off. You can get it on black rubber vinyl, plastic it wipes right off, no white residue Best part is, it's easy to use and the more times you use it the better the bike shines.Water beads up like water off ducks *** = http://www.collinite.com/automotive-wax/insulator-wax/

Try it.. You'll be glad you did..

Liquid Glass is incredible. Kind of hard to find and a little pricey but worth every penny. A can will last forever, just store inside in winter so it doesn't freeze. Been using it for years and won't put anything else on bikes or vehicles. Also use it on "95 Seadoo and can't believe its 18 years old.

OP: Looks like a resounding "use anything you want", which is about right.

Not to add to the confusion for the OP, but Armour All Butter Smooth is awesome as well. Wipe on, wipe off. No white crap to dust off afterwards. That's the only wax my bike has seen for the past two years and the only wax it will ever see as long as I have it.

Absolutely.....I use the peroxide mix all the time. Regardless of the wax you choose, you're going to need to get the bugs off. I've been using this mix for a long time and it's better than any commercial product you can buy, and won't harm the finish.

Adams Polishes!!!!!! Most everything I've owned over the years has been black except on occasion I get burn out on keeping it clean. I've used alot of different stuff and now I use strictly Adams not cheap and I'm sure there's stuff that is comparable,but it works and thats what I stick with unless the bike gets really bad or I run in rain I maybe wash 2-3 times a year otherwise I use detail spray,waterless wash,bug slide and Adams brilliant spray glaze between waxings.I also use all there machine polishes. A friend of mine is just as much of a nut as I am about his bike and he started using it and loves it and he's more of a tight *** than I am. I will say I have been considerin trying the 50/50 peroxide thing though. Oh and always microfiber towels.
