I'm thinking of buying extended bags with cut outs and speaker lids. Also a wider rear fender to match bags. Each product supplier says their product is better than the other. The bike has 52k in 5 years of riding so I don't want to spend too much money on it. (more than2K) Fiberglass is 1/2 the price of plastic but I'm afraid of cracking. Ideas or input?
I would look at who makes them more than the material used. For bags and fender I would look at TopShop...
I have sinister, the bags are ABS, the Fender is fiberglass, both pieces are good quality and would not have an issue with the fiberglass or ABS in either configuration. As mentioned earlier go with a reputable manufacturer and you should be ok.
I asked this very question to a bike painter and he said fiberglass is hit and miss. Sometimes large flat areas like the sides of fiberglass saddle bags have waves. He can't hide it with dark colors like blue or black. He's never seen waves with ABS. It's not an issue on the curves or corners, just the flat sides.

I agree, do not think you can do it for 2k unless you are doing all the work.
Well the video is convincing, wonder how long it holds decent paint, or if after a few years it flexes enough to cause the paint to spider, crack, chip...etc?
I'd probably be looking at plastic if I was going to do the stretched bags and fender.
