Default Service manual

New Harley owner. 2010 Ultra Classic Limited.

Where's the best source to pick up a service manual.

Thanks in advance.

Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF. 'Best' is a big word! Your local dealer can supply one, which may be easiest. Get the factory one, not any of the cheap alternatives.

I have a 2010 touring service manual that I'm replacing with a 2013 for my newest bike. If you want it, you can have it for $40 shipped to you. It's in excellent shape and some highlighted areas that will really help you find important info quickly. PM me if you are interested.

There's a deal worth pouncing on. I'd also suggest taking any manual to a Fed Ex/Kinkos or Staples and have the binding cut off and the pages punched to accept a flexible binding that allows the manual to lay flat when opened.

I got mine from Ebay for about 1/2 the price. All the pages are there and it came pre-oiled and greased!

There are no legal or legitimate copies anywhere except from HD. The CDs and DVDs you see on Ebay are illegal copies of the HD copyrighted product. When you buy those, you support thieves.

Buy the real thing. The HD service manual is light years ahead of some of the Japanese motorcycle service manuals I have encountered. There are other companies that sell manuals, Clymer and Chiltons, but at the end of the day, the vast majority prefer the HD manual hands-down.

Lake Shore will sell you one at a 20% discount and a flat shipping rate. And if you can wait, they run a free shipping special a couple of times per year for all technical literature. Now that's the best deal in the nation on service manuals, parts manuals (highly recommended), and electrical diagnostic manuals.

The last time I looked at one, the Chilton's manual doesn't give specifics about the bike you want to repair. The HD manual has illustrations in it that are rather lacking at some times as to orientation of the part you are working on or what you looking at in general. At least they aren't photo copies that have turned into smudges like some books present.
