EFI to Carb .....Almost done
2000 RKC
Used new Harley parts. Carb wiring harness, carb ignition, New cv carb, New sensors. Pretty much all plug and play.
Pingle fuel valve, no vacumm port needed on carb, put plastic cap on it.
Turned on key, lights work, turn signals work, getting ready to see if it fired, said 2 our fathers, and 2 more hail mary's.
Turned off key walked away.
Came back, 2 more our fathers, 2 hail mary's, pulled the choke gave it some gas. It fired up.
Snow on ground outside, cant warm up bike right to adjust carb.
Stage 1, 2-1 exhaust. Carb is new CV
Main jet: 190
Pilot jet: 45
Needle set: R420
Holder jet: L079
Have not adjusted air/fuel mixture screw. Did drill out plug.
35 degrees out seems like bike is hard to start with choke out, have to try 4-5 times to keep it running, and give it a couple burps of the throttle each time for fuel
Again have not warmed it up enough to see where I am at. Just seems hard to start right now when cold.
ONce running idle's good

You know I see this alot. But my CV carb is totally dialed in with my cam'd 88" motor. The CV has run flawlessly to above 12,000 feet in the Rockies and my EFI friends couldn't believe it. Just a small warm up when below 40 or 50 degrees and off I go with no issues.
The CV has been a really good carb for me.
Just saying.

I have done a bunch of reading on this plus talked with mechanics and they say the cv carbs are bulletproof
Just need to get the right jets which are cheap. They say the mikuni has more adjustments.
I guess that meant you could fine tune it more.
I wasmore fond of the word bulletproof when the mechanic described the cv
I had a parts list I went off of.I also referenced off a stock harley parts book.
Few things ended up not needed.I think I have around $700 - $800 into the change.
No more maps, no more trying to figure out that m&m or injector wire or what ever.
Way less sensors on a carb bike.
Glad they worked it out on the Delphi sysytem

The cv has much to be desired over a hsr, the throttle response is night and day, the ease of adjust-ability is also a huge plus and the bump in power is always nice..
its your ride, run what you like.. Im just giving you what ive learned from past experience.
I wish they still had the option of efi or carb, its a hell of a lot cheaper to change a jet then do all the programming...and the carb bikes sound better, have less to go wrong and you can push start them
