I just last week ordered a set of HOGPRO 'Shelby' 21" front, 17" rear, both with new Metzeler tires mounted. Waiting patiently for Wednesday/Thursday to get here and see them. I can't wait to get them on the bike! (FYI: Paul was a huge help in figuring what I needed and not spending TOO much of my $$.)

I went 21" in the front and 17" in the back. it was one of the first mods I did so I can't really speak about the difference. I also have a 200 tire on the rear, tight fit but it worked and looks good. Metzeler's on front and rear. No drilling of fender, they claim the Metz's are not as tall in the center of tread, therefore making a better fit under the stock fender.

How the 21" changes the ride really depends on the rider, the type of riding they do, and how comfortable they are on the bike in general. It is impossible to read internet reviews and make an informed decision.
I run 21"'s on two of my bikes without issue and have never felt uncomfortable or that my ride has suffered as a result. I have taken plenty of long trips fully loaded down without issue. I don't ride two up as my wife rocks her own bike but I do not see that making a difference either.
I do all kinds of riding. I commute daily in rush hour traffic. I take trips (long and short) and I ride locally in the mountains, canyons etc.
Have I ever regretted changing my wheels? Not me.
